Catalina Freight Line is a community-conscious Public Utility and trusted lifeline to Catalina Island. As such, our primary responsiblility is to provide our customers 100% reliability through safe, consistent, industry-compliant, high-quality transportation services at low rates. Our strong foundation allows us to make that happen.

Our Equipment

 

  • Our equipment is purpose-built and right-sized to be fully loaded in summer and efficiently loaded in the winter.

  • ABS load line certified

  • Full redundancy - two barges and two tugs

  • We have over 50 pieces of rolling stock: forklifts, tractors, vans, flats, refers, tankers & tank trucks

  • Our equipment is right-sized for Avalon's small streets and trips into the interior

  • We have backup equipment in case of extended maintenance or breakdown

  • All equipment has been upgraded to latest Air Quality Standards - forklifts, tractors, refers, barge generators, tugs

  • Lower fuel consumption and minimal ocean floor impact

  • We participate in regular Coast Guard meetings, including complete audits of our facilities and equipment.

  • Our MARSEC security plan required detailed processes and certification by the U.S. Coast Guard

  • Our processes and procedures ensure 100% compliance with environmental agencies.
